Housing 4 Skagit

Indivisible Skagit was a founding member of the Right Growth, Right Place Coalition formed in 2021 to permanently prevent so-called Fully Contained Communities (giant suburban housing developments) from being allowed by County Commissioners to sprawl over the rural areas of Skagit.

We won that campaign with extensive publicity, doorbelling, a petition that gathered thousands of signatures, a video campaign, and finally a vote of Skagit County Commissioners to deny the project.

IndiSkagit members formed this action team to “take back the mic”, and counter developers' false claim that suburban sprawl is a solution to the housing affordability crisis. Housing 4 Skagit promotes affordable housing solutions within the existing Urban Growth Areas of our towns and cities.

Our focus is on finding housing solutions for people already living here. Everyone in Skagit needs a safe, comfortable home we can afford. No exceptions. We need essential housing for essential workers. Even though the affordable housing crisis is a national problem, we can find Skagit-sized solutions for Skagit’s housing needs.
