Who we are:

Indivisible Skagit is a local chapter of the National Indivisible Movement which came into being after the election of Donald Trump in 2016. A pamphlet published by former congressional staffers, Leah Greenberg and Ezra Levin, to educate people about effecting change through contact with their legislators and working to elect public officials at all levels of governmental service inspired the creation of Indivisible chapters throughout the U.S. The Indivisible guide has been updated each year to address current circumstances. Locally, Indivisible Skagit started with a group of teachers who attended the Women’s March in Washington, D.C.. They called a meeting in Skagit which drew an overflow crowd in Jan. 2017. We have been organizing at the local, state, and national levels ever since. We are committed to non-violent action in defense of democracy.

 

Indivisible Skagit has a bias toward action. We do not want to be just news consumers. Our goal is to connect our members with opportunities to take action on their porgressive values.

 

What are prograssive values? It’s nothing more and nothing less than the words most of us recited at the beginning of our school day: Liberty and Justice For All No Exceptions.

 

As we face the current onslaught of fascism, we are reminding ourselves that we have been here before, and this time we are not starting from scratch.
